State income tax withholding
Withholding account (Combined Registration Application)

- You'll receive:
- An 8-digit Central Registration (CR) number for your withholding account.
- Send Unify:
- Your CR number.

Unemployment insurance account (BEACON)

- You'll receive:
- A Maryland UI employer account number from the BEACON portal. New employers pay 1.0% to 2.6% on the first $8,500 per employee.
- Send Unify:
- Your UI employer account number and your rate notice.
Paid leave and disability insurance
Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI)

- You'll receive:
- A FAMLI employer registration. Contributions start January 1, 2027, at 0.9% of wages, split evenly between employer and employee; employers with fewer than 15 employees remit only the employee half.
- Send Unify:
- Your FAMLI registration details.
Registration is required now for any employer with at least one Maryland employee. Only an authorized officer can register, using Login.gov. Benefits start in January 2028.
