Kentucky moved employer unemployment accounts to the new KUIP portal on August 17, 2026. Every employer received a new 9-digit KEIN, and the older account format no longer works.
State income tax withholding

- You'll receive:
- A Kentucky withholding tax account number. Applying online through MyTaxes is faster; paper applications take 5 to 10 business days.
- Send Unify:
- Your Kentucky withholding tax account number.
State unemployment insurance
Unemployment insurance account (KUIP)
Kentucky Office of Unemployment Insurance
- You'll receive:
- A 9-digit Kentucky Employer Identification Number (KEIN) and a new-employer rate of at least 2.7% (new construction employers get the top rate on the schedule). The 2026 wage base is $12,000.
- Send Unify:
- Your KEIN and your rate notice.
